The first official meeting of the new TCC Chapter in Germany will be held in Bonn over the weekend of September 23-26. Those attending the planning meeting in Dusseldorf, April 1 and 2, were long-time German members Dr. Dietrich Deppe, J. Herbert Goebels, Rolf Hildebrand, plus TCC Chairman Klaus Billep. Goebels agreed to be the Area Coordinator. There are 35 TCC members in Germany. Quarterly meetings are anticipated.
The tentative schedule for the Bonn meeting includes arrival on Friday, September 23. TCC is holding some rooms at Hotel Stern. On Saturday morning, there will be a TCC meeting followed by an early afternoon visit to the Beethoven Museum, a concert played on Beethoven’s piano, and a lunch next door at the Im Stiefel Restaurant. A boat ride after lunch is also planned.
On Sunday, there will be city sightseeing, followed by a visit to the Baroque Castle Augustusburg of Bruehl. There will be a farewell dinner, with departures on Monday.
Besides being the birthplace of Beethoven, the 2,000-year-old city of Bonn is well-known as the first capital of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is often in the spotlight of world politics when state visitors and guests of honor are welcomed at Villa Hammerschmidt.
All TCC members are welcome to attend this first German Chapter meeting. For further information, contact Goebels at (0241) 522542 or info@old.travelerscenturyclub.org.
