Family-Style Filipino Banquet Featured at May 2017 Pennsylvania Chapter Meeting

Those who attended our Filipino Kamayan banquet at Perla on May 21 certainly had an experience! Feasting on brown rice, seasoned mixed vegetables, fish, pork belly and some of the most moist and flavorful chicken of our lives, and using banana leaves as “dishes,” the group heard from local immigration attorney Audrey Allen. The meal was presented family-style, and the servings were so abundant that many of us got doggie bags to take home and enjoy later. It was a very fun experience.

Looking ahead to our final meeting of the year on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m., we will be dining at Catahoula, a Cajun/Creole restaurant in Queen Village, along Front Street between Catherine and Fitzwater. Our tentative speaker for that meeting will be KPMG consultant Lisa Woods, one of the first Jewish women to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as advisor to the Royal family. A world traveler herself, Lisa has been to 65 countries and is married to an equally well-travelled airline pilot.
