UNESCO World Heritage Sites were featured at Toronto’s meeting on Dec. 5, reports Coordinator Rick Shaver. He gave an introductory presentation and those attending were asked to share a memory, photo and story of a favorite UNESCO site visit. These included Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands by Jon Boddy, Easter Island by Bob Bryant, Waterton Lakes National Park by Steve Johnston, Petra by Wendy Johnston, Riga, Latvia, by Leo Reichmanis, Ilulissat, Greenland, by Carol Stephenson, Timbuktu by Colin Stephenson, various sites in Israel by Anne Shaver, Wadi Rum, Jordan, by Alan Shaver, Mammoth Caves, KY, by Derek Smith, and the Galapagos Islands by Rick Shaver.
The next meeting will be on Saturday, May 14, at Rick’s offices, The Hive, in downtown Toronto. Additional meetings in 2016 will be on Saturday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Dec. 10.
