United Kingdom Chapter Plans October Pub Gathering in London

U.K. member Jeremy Burton recounts Central Asia journey with the Cambridge Alumni Travel Programme »

The Travelers’ Century Club UK will hold our next meeting on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, in the Thomas Doggett Bar, a private meeting room upstairs with a panoramic view of the Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral, at the:

Doggett’s Coat and Badge
1 Blackfriars Bridge
London
SE1 9UD
0207 633 9081

The nearest tube station is Southwark on the Jubilee Line. The pub is about a five-minute walk from the station. It is also about a five-minute walk from Blackfriars tube station over Blackfriars Bridge. For those of you who want a bit more exercise, it is about a 15-minute walk from Waterloo station along the south bank of the Thames.

We welcome all members to arrive anytime between noon and 1 p.m. We will include a two-course meal, beer, wine and soft drinks. Orders will be taken at about 1 p.m. A cash bar will be available for spirits. Please set your expectations that this will be a very informal environment and that the food is pub grub rather than haute cuisine.

As usual, we look forward to hearing about your travel adventures and advice. We will ask all attendees to share their thoughts on the following topic:

‘Where have you not traveled to and why?’

Please RSVP no later than Friday, Sept. 5, so I can give the pub an estimate of how many will attend. Members are encouraged to invite guests if they wish. This is a perfect opportunity to invite others who might be interested in learning more about the TCC. There are no restrictions as to how well traveled your guests may be. The more, the merrier!

If attending, please ensure a cheque for £39.50 per person is sent to my Windsor address  no later than Friday, Sept. 12. Alternatively, I am happy to provide details for the TCC UK bank account.
