The Southwest Florida TCC Chapter was excited to welcome our first ever visiting speaker: Special guest Sherri Donovan, the New York Chapter Co Coordinator, presented on her remarkable and varied travels this year. Sherri spoke to our chapter about her trip in May to Afghanistan under the Taliban. After lunch, Sherri presented on Pitcairn Island which she visited just days after Afghanistan by cargo ship to a long boat to the island where she stayed with a family. With only 30 residents, issues such as justice and health care are very complicated. Sherry next spoke about the Haenyeo divers of Jeju Island. The oldest woman that Sherri met diving is 91! It was a fascinating look at the role of women in these diverse societies.
