Northeast Florida Chapter Update: Spotlight on the Azores and Other Portuguese-Speaking Destinations

On May 10 the chapter had a fun and delicious luncheon meeting at the Portugal Wine Bar and Restaurant in Palm Coast, Florida, with 14 attendees.

This venue was the perfect setting for a presentation by Platinum member Taylor Malishenko who recently returned from a trans-Atlantic cruise which included stops at the Azores and Madeira. Her photos showed the fabulous scenery and interesting sights that will be available to us at the International TCC meeting in the Azores in May 2024. Taylor also submitted a report on the Azores to the TCC info files with links to other pertinent articles.

Susan and Russ Rosenberry had also recently traveled to Madeira, Portugal and Cape Verde and shared photos of these other Portuguese-speaking countries that would also be easy to connect to before or after the Azores meeting.

We also welcomed three new TCC members: Larry and Charynn Marshall and Mary Cozart, who are all very active travelers.

In our “Around the Table — Around the World” segment many members reported on recent travel to destinations such as Antarctica, Japan, Africa, southeast Asia, Canary Islands, western Europe and more. In addition, we shared information on helpful websites, international greeting services, private guides, tour operators and more. In summary, one member remarked that part of the value of chapter meetings was the rare chance to be with other people who have been to or are curious about destinations such as Pitcairn Island!

The group is looking forward to the next meeting, which will be sometime in the fourth quarter of 2023 in the St. Augustine area; the exact date and location will be announced in the near future.
