April 2023 New England Chapter Update

The New England TCC Chapter met on April 15 for some delicious Azorean cuisine and even greater conversations. A special thanks to Dave Netzer for his fabulous talk on the Azores in which he shared about his visits to all nine of the islands. Thanks too for Dave’s special gifts, which included black sand from Iwo Jima from his recent visit, a unique alcohol made of tea in the Azores, and more. We also welcomed some of our newest members, Sandeep and Neeta Shah as well as Linda Crawford. It was very nice to have the TCC’s only member from Maine, Marilyn (“Jean”) Bird, join us along with her daughter, Leslie Bird. Thanks to everyone who came in from near and far (Rhode Island, Maine, Cape Cod, and beyond) for the irresistible cataplanas (traditional Portuguese clamshell pans), stews, and other savory dishes as well as inspiring desserts.
