Presentation on the Republic of the Congo by JoAnn Schwartz Planned for September Canada Chapter Meeting

Hello World Travelers,

Hoping you all are having an enjoyable summer. It’s great to see that more and more travel opportunities are beginning to open up for us all, both domestically around our great country of Canada and internationally.

I am excited to announce that we are extremely fortunate to have TCC Board Member JoAnn Schwartz as our featured speaker for our meeting next month!

JoAnn will recount her recent trip this past June to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Accompanying JoAnn were distinguished TCC members Don Parish and Charles Veley, who have both completed the entire TCC list of countries and territories – unbelievable & amazing.

Here is a little peek summarizing some of JoAnn’s trip:

“Some of our TCC’s most intrepid travelers explored the Democratic Republic of Congo for three weeks this past June. With nearly impassable roads and a 3am finish one day, their drive from Kinshasa to Kasongo took 10 full days. They flew in a cargo plane to Bukavu to see the Lowland Gorillas in a 7-1/2 hour trek, took a ferry to Goma, stayed in Kisangani for an overnight by the Congo, took a flight to Mbandaka (only João and Charles went), and finished in Lubumbashi. Some remote areas had not seen outsiders in two years so they were quite the subject of interest, drawing crowds of onlookers.”

Please send me your RSVP response to this email if you would like to join us for our virtual meeting on Saturday, Sept 11, at 12 noon and I will send you a Zoom invite.

Excited to see you all soon.

Warm regards,

Rick Shaver
