Norcal Update: Focus on Saudi Arabia at the June 2022 Luncheon

At the June 2022 Northern Calfornia Chapter meeting, co-coordinator Margo Bart spoke about her recent trip to Saudi Arabia. Twenty-six members and guests attended the luncheon at Skates on the Bay located in the Berkeley Marina. Margo explained that tourism is a new concept for the Kingdom and there is much to see and do. Hegra, the place of ancient tombs dating back to the 1st century BCE in the Al Ula region, is SA’s first UNESCO world heritage site. Also memorable are the rock-art/carvings in Jubbah, some thought to be over 10,000 years old. Many of these sites are open to the public for the first time in nearly 2,000 years, and Margo insists SA will become a popular destination for TCC members.

The next chapter luncheon will be on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco.
