Kim-Kay Randt: An Exemplary Coordinator

It’s just been a year and a half since the Texas TCC chapter was revived by Kim-Kay Randt as Area Coordinator. Her organizing skills and accomplishments during this short period are remarkable, and we thought a summary might inspire others. She says feedback from other Texas TCC members have helped her reach her goals. Here’s what she has done since June, 2011:

  • Established quarterly meetings on the second Saturday at the start of each quarter, which allows TCC members to plan around their travel schedules.
  • Rotated meeting locations among Houston, Dallas and Austin, acknowledging the large geography of the state, thus enabling broader attendance. San Antonio will be added in 2014.
  • Provided a forum at the meetings for sharing and networking, allowing unplanned time before the lunches, with “icebreaker” topics.
  • Improved the chapter’s presence on the TCC Web site and in The Centurian, providing an opportunity to highlight country milestones reached by Texas members. (She also takes excellent usable photos.)
  • Secured featured educational and enlightening speakers for the meetings, with topics – “Close Call in the Arctic,” “Palmyra Atoll,” “Penguin Quest,” “Wine Education and Tasting,” “Dive the World,” and “90 degrees North.”
  • Since the state is so large, and meetings are in different cities, she is encouraging carpooling.

She communicates regularly with the Texas members and recognizes new members. She recently asked the members to reassess what they like and don’t like and sought their suggestions (a Chapter Survey).
